Alison Ann Sweeney is an American performer, host of a reality television show writer and director. Sweeney was best known for her character Samantha Sami Brady, a role she played in Days of Our Lives from January 6, 1994 through October 30, 2014 as part of the contract with NBC. Sweeney finally decided that she was fed up with fads like grapefruit diets and cabbage soup in 1999. She stayed clear of fads like grapefruit and the cabbage soup diet, and adopted healthier habits like not drinking alcohol and sugary drinks, as well as starting boot-camp fitness classes. She lost close to 30 pounds. The result? She almost dropped 30 lbs. Sweeney is of Irish origins. She has two brothers. She attended UCLA and then was able to leave for work on Days of Our Lives.
